Carrie Underwood To Play Youth Leader In First Film Role

ARISTA/NASHVILLE star CARRIE UNDERWOOD had landed a supporting role in her first studio movie "Soul Surfer." The film is based on the autobiography of 19-year-old champion surfer BETHANY HAMILTON, who, for over six years, has defied all odds to compete and win professional championships after losing her arm in a shark attack at age thirteen. UNDERWOOD will play SARAH HILL, a church youth leader.

Filming is to take place in FEBRUARY and the movie will also star HELEN HUNT, DENNIS QUAID and ANNASOPHIA ROBB.

In other CARRIE news, she scored the number one video on iTUNES TODAY (2/4) for "Temporary Home." iTUNES debuted the video TUESDAY (2/2) with a two-day exclusive, and “Temporary Home” will hit the broadcast airwaves when it makes its television debut TODAY (02/04) in "Hot Shot" rotation on CMT and in "Turbo" rotation on GAC.

CARRIE will also be on the cover of the MARCH issue of COSMOPOLITAN, and on the ALLURE cover feature hitting stands for their APRIL issue.

She will sing the NATIONAL ANTHEM at SUPER BOWL XLIV as part of the pre-game festivities on FEBRUARY 7th (NET NEWS 1/28). Then CARRIE will make her first appearance at the HOLLYWOOD BOWL on OCTOBER 2nd, with a concert performance involving the HOLLYWOOD BOWL ORCHESTRA. Tickets for the performance go on sale FEBRUARY 14th.
