McIntyre's 'Red Eye Radio' Returns For Citadel, WABC, KABC
February 4, 2010 at 5:40 PM (PT)
DOUG MCINTYRE is resurrecting his overnight "RED EYE RADIO" show, this time for CITADEL MEDIA and his present and former stations, CITADEL Talk WABC-A/NEW YORK and KABC-A/LOS ANGELES, starting MONDAY (2/8). He hosted "RED EYE RADIO" for KABC before moving to morning drive and then to WABC's pre-DON IMUS hour.
MCINTYRE has also been writing a page 1 column for the LOS ANGELES DAILY NEWS. The new version will air MONDAYS through SUNDAYS 1-5a ET, in the slot presently occupied by PREMIERE's COAST TO COAST AM on WABC.
WABC PD LAURIE CANTILLO said, "DOUG MCINTYRE'S RED EYE RADIO is a refreshing live alternative to traditional overnight fare, which is canned, conspiratorial, and just plain dull. Our listeners love DOUG MCINTYRE and the fun, hip approach he brings to the news."
KABC PD DAVID G. HALL added, "I used to hate to compete with his shows. They had huge ratings and audiences that were way above average in listener loyalty. DOUG MCINTYRE'S RED EYE RADIO is a FABULOUS program and a terrific alternative to UFO and ghost shows."
Premiere Reacts To WABC's Cancellation Of 'Coast To Coast AM'
PREMIERE President of Content and Affiliate Relations JULIE TALBOTT responded to WABC's move to cancel "COAST TO COAST AM" by telling ALL ACCESS, "It’s shocking when a top-rated program is removed from a station. However, we’re incredibly proud that COAST TO COAST AM continues to be the most-listened-to overnight radio program in NORTH AMERICA, broadcasting live on 527 affiliates to more than three million passionate and loyal listeners each week who enjoy hearing one of the most relevant and entertaining shows in the news-talk world."
