February 5, 2010 at 6:33 AM (PT)
Country legend KENNY ROGERS announced at a press conference last night (2/4) in NASHVILLE that he will tape an upcoming television special commemorating the first 50 years of his career. "KENNY ROGERS: The First 50 Years" will be filmed in high definition, digital 3D on APRIL 10th at the MGM GRAND at FOXWOODS in LAS VEGAS.
DOLLY PARTON, LIONEL RICHIE, ALISON KRAUSS, WYNONNA and the OAK RIDGE BOYS are some of the artists already slated to appear on the show. Tickets may be purchased online at www.mgmatfoxwoods.com and at TICKETMASTER beginning next THURSDAY (2/11) at 9a (PT).
ROGERS said, “When this was first proposed to me as a 50-year celebration, something about that sounded final, and I didn’t want that, so I suggested we call it ‘The First 50 Years.' I will tell you this, the first 50 years TV show is gonna be awesome – the next 50 years TV show is gonna be a bitch.”
Details on the network airing the special, more guest stars and other surprises will be announced shortly. For more on KENNY ROGERS, see www.kennyrogers.com.
