ESPN Sports KESN (103.3 ESPN)/DALLAS has fired host and former DALLAS COWBOYS star MICHAEL IRVIN in the wake of rape allegations in a civil lawsuit fined in BROWARD COUNTY, FL, reports the DALLAS MORNING NEWS. "The show was not performing and we had previously determined to end the show," ESPN spokesman JOSH KRULEWITZ told the MORNING NEWS' BARRY HORN. The station's evening hosts BEN ROGERS and JEFF "SKIN" WADE move up to the 11a-2p slot to replace IRVIN.
No criminal charges have been filed against IRVIN in the incident, which allegedly occurred JULY 4th or 5th, 2007 at the SEMINOLE HARD ROCK HOTEL AND CASINO near FORT LAUDERDALE. The woman reported the alleged incident to SEMINOLE police on JULY 20, 2007, a tribe spokesman told the MIAMI HERALD, adding that an investigation took place and the woman signed a waiver of prosecution. IRVIN's attorney LARRY FRIEDMAN called the allegations "totally untrue" and said that the woman came forward last year after IRVIN's appearance on "DANCING WITH THE STARS" and wanted $1 million, then $800,000, to settle.
