RTDNA Elects Regional Directors

The RADIO TELEVISION DIGITAL NEWS ASSOCIATION has elected five regional directors to two-year terms on the board of directors. The terms will begin at the close of the RTDNA annual convention in LAS VEGAS APRIL 11th-14th.
CLEAR CHANNEL Talk KOA-A/DENVER News Dir. KATHY WALKER will represent Regions 1 and 3; SCRIPPS NBC affiliate KSHB-TV/KANSAS CITY News Dir. PEGGY PHILLIP will represent Regions 4 and 5; TIME WARNER CABLE's NEWS 8 AUSTIN News Dir. KEVIN BENZ will represent Region 6; CLEAR CHANNEL Country WMSI (MISS 103)-Classic Hits WQJQ (Q105.1)-Sports WJDX-A (THE SCORE)/JACKSON, MS News Dir. RANDY BELL will represent Regions 8 and 9; and HEARST ABC affiliate WCVB-TV/BOSTON News Dir. ANDREW VREES will represent Region 10.
RTDNA members will also elect a new Chairperson-Elect and two Directors-at-Large at its convention. BENZ is running for Chairperson-elect, while CBS RADIO Talk KDKA-A/PITTSBURGH's MARSHALL ADAMS, ABC O&O KGO-TV/SAN FRANCISCO's DAVID LOUIS, SCRIPPS Dir./Digital Content CHIP MAHANEY, and OHIO UNIVERSITY Assoc. Professor MARY ROGUS are running for the two Director-at-Large positions, with additional nominations permitted at the group's APRIL 12th business meeting.
"This competitive field of at-large candidates confirms the wisdom shown by the Board and RTDNA members in opening up representation to include all news staff, and the inclusion full voting rights for educator news managers," said RTDNA Chairperson STACEY WOELFEL. "This diverse group of professionals features strong leaders and committed professionals across radio, television, digital and student media platforms. We are excited at the prospect of a vigorous debate on the future of RTDNA and RTDNF."
After the convention, WOELFEL, News Dir. at UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI NBC affiliate KOMU-TV/COLUMBIA, MO, will become Chairperson of the RADIO TELEVISION DIGITAL NEWS FOUNDATION, with NEXTSTAR NBC affiliate WHAG-TV (NBC 25)/HAGERSTOWN, MD News Dir. MARK KRAHAM becoming RTDNA Chairperson.
