An ethics complaint against a MACON Councilwoman filed by CUMULUS Talk WMAC-A/MACON morning host CHRIS KROK has been upheld by a judge, who ruled FRIDAY that Councilwoman ELAINE LUCAS violated the city Code of Ethics by ordering a city employee to send an e-mail to media members about a fundraiser for gubernatorial candidate (and former GEORGIA Governor) ROY BARNES.
Municipal Court Judge ROBERT FAULKNER pointed at a provision in the code that bans the use of city property or a city employee for other than official purposes. The ruling carries no punishment and the City Council has the option to take action or decline to punish BARNES. BARNES said that the e-mail was not a violation and she will work to clear her name.
KROK, for his part, has also filed a complaint with the State Ethics Commission in the matter.
