DAVIDSON COUNTY BROADCASTING is taking another shot at moving Classic Hits WTHZ (MAJIC 94.1)/LEXINGTON, NC closer to the CHARLOTTE market with a proposal for the town of MOORESVILLE, NC to annex 18 acres of a farm to allow a tower that has previously been rejected by ROWAN COUNTY.
Station owner GIG HILTON was denied a permit to build a 1,350 foot tower on the property under the county zoning ordinance and lost an appeal to the NORTH CAROLINA Court of Appeals, but the SALISBURY POST reports that property owners RICHARD L. and DORCAS PARKER have applied for annexation and the County Board of Commissioners will consider a resolution against the annexation TONIGHT.
WTHZ has applied to the FCC to change its community of license to FAITH, NC and downgrade to a Class C1 at the new site, which would move the station's 60 dBu countour to cover CHARLOTTE.
