CARE BROADCASTING, INC. has been fined $3,400 by the FCC for late license renewal applications for KHGN and K220CN/KIRKSVILLE, MO as well as unauthorized operation after the licenses expired. The fine was reduced from $14,000 due to financial hardship.
In another FCC action, WNLB RADIO, INC. has been fined $1,000 for public file violations at Country WZBB (SUPER COUNTRY 99.9)/STANLEYTOWN, VA. The fine was reduced from $9,000 because the Commission determined that the 1996, 1997, and 1998 issues/programs lists had been generated and were in the file but were only briefly missing.
And SPOKANE PUBLIC RADIO has been fined $750 for late license renewal applications for FM translators K220BW/KELLOGG, ID, K269DU/SANDPOINT, ID, and K220BX/COEUR D'ALENE, ID. The licensee said that it incorrectly thought the deadline for the translators would be the same as the primary station, noncommercial KPBX/SPOKANE. The fine was reduced from $4,500 to conform to fines in similar situations.
