WIND's Howell Still Solo As Co-Host Search Continues

Two months after CISCO COTTO left SALEM Talk WIND-A/CHICAGO's morning show to return to crosstown CITADEL Talk WLS-A, his former on-air partner, BIG JOHN HOWELL, has been going solo while the station decides on a new co-host. But VOCALO.ORG's ROBERT FEDER reports that "none of the above" may be a top contender and HOWELL may remain solo.
HOWELL told FEDER, "I’ve been told that they’re comfortable with me working as a solo until they find the right person, and there’s no rush. If I had to go forward without a partner, there are some aspects of that that I would welcome. But I do think that for the show’s development and for it to be really competitive, it’s also valuable to bring in other voices. I can go it alone for the foreseeable future, but for the sake of continuity, it’s probably wise to have a co-host in there at some point."
While HOWELL and WIND would not comment on who is on the short list for the co-hosting position, FEDER lists WIND staffers MIKE SCOTT, GUY BENSON and GEOFF PINKUS as in-house candidates and says that JERRY AGAR, AMY JACOBSON, BILL LEFF, DEBORAH ROWE, JENNIFER STEPHENS and BRUCE WOLF have audtioned with HOWELL off the air.
