This morning, CLEAR CHANNEL AC KESZ (99.9 KEZ)/PHOENIX morning show co-host BILL AUSTIN of the BETH & BILL SHOW announced that he will retire from radio after 40 years in broadcasting.
According to BILL AUSTIN, "After 40 years in broadcasting (I know I look much younger), almost 20 with BETH [MCDONALD] and KEZ, I have decided there are a lot of things I need to and want to do. This will be hard as every time I see some thing in the news I will be thinking of how BETH and I can have fun with it. Man, have we been lucky, most partnerships are not as rosy as they appear. I can honestly say BETH and I have never had an argument! I don't think we have ever been mad at each other...take it from a guy who has been married 6 or 8 times.... that's something!"
CLEAR CHANNEL Radio & Digital President and Market Manager JEFF ENGLAND commented, "BILL's contributions to his fans in the Valley the past 20 years are immeasurable. He is one of those rare people, who regardless of the circumstances makes you laugh or smile. I cannot recall a single time he left my office and I was not laughing! I will miss him."
KESZ PD KEVIN GOSSETT added, "BILL is one of nicest, funniest, most genuine guys I've met in life, let alone the media. He's as equally at ease listening to and enjoying a story as he is telling one, and that's something that makes him unique in our business. It doesn't matter whether he's working with a microphone or a television camera or both. BILL AUSTIN is one of those rare personalities that transcend the medium he's on, and I, along with the entire KEZ family, will miss working with him a lot."
