The MIAMI DOLPHINS have entered into a new six-year radio broadcast rights partnership with CLEAR CHANNEL COMMUNICATIONS that will result in Classic Rock WBGG (BIG 105.9) and Sports WINZ-A (940 THE SPORTS ANIMAL) being the DOLPHINS flagship stations. The team is also forming an integrated marketing services corporation, DOLPHINS INTEGRATED MEDIA SALES GROUP, to sell the radio inventory and multimedia marketing programs to corporate sponsors, and the parties plan to launch a DOLPHINS HD RADIO channel in the future. WINZ will add a daily 5-7p year-round DOLPHINS talk show as well.
Financial terms of the agreement, which runs through the 2015 NFL season, were not disclosed. The DOLPHINS previously aired on crosstown BEASLEY Sports WQAM-A for the past three seasons.
"We couldn't be more excited that BIG 105.9 and WINZ radio will broadcast our games," said DOLPHINS CEO MIKE DEE. "This is a big win for DOLPHINS fans. CLEAR CHANNEL's strength of signal, network of stations and multimedia platform, combined with the additional DOLPHINS programming content will ensure that more fans will be able to listen to our games and follow our activities on and off the field."
"We are proud to be associated with such a beloved team and prestigious community institution. The organization’s strategic vision aligns perfectly with the assets we have at CLEAR CHANNEL SOUTH FLORIDA. We look forward to producing the highest quality programming possible and to a long and mutually beneficial partnership," said CLEAR CHANNEL SOUTH FLORIDA Pres./Market Manager BRIAN OLSON.
In addition, the DOLPHINS inked a long-term extension of their deal in the FORT MYERS-NAPLES market with BEASLEY Rock WXKR (96K-ROCK), which remains the FINS' affiliate in that area. The station will air the two hour pre- and post-game shows and will also market the team on sister Sports WWCN-A (770 ESPN).
