A producer for ENTERCOM Sports WEEI-A/BOSTON's afternoon "THE BIG SHOW" has been suspended for one week for sending vulgar text messages to rival CBS RADIO sports WBZ-F (THE SPORTS HUB), reports the BOSTON HERALD's JESSICA HESLAM. ANDY MASSAUA has also been banned from texting anyone at the HUB after getting caught when staffers at the other station replied to the texts by calling the number attached to them and getting MASSAUA's voice mail.
HUB evening host DAMON AMENDOLARA told the paper that the texts, 80% of which he said were too vulgar to read on the air, targeted several HUB employees and included homophobic comments. He said MASSAUA had been sending constant texts for months, including 22 in one night alone.
On the suspension, WEEI PD JASON WOLFE said that MASSAUA has to "think about, and reflect, on his irresponsible and sophomoric actions that will not be tolerated by this station."
