LYNN OWSLEY, steel guitar player for ERNEST TUBB’s TEXAS TROUBADOUR BAND, was honored with a “Living Legend Award” from the STEEL GUITAR ASSOCIATION in NASHVILLE on JANUARY 5th. OWSLEY got his start with WANDA JACKSON AND THE PARTYTIMERS and has also played with CHARLIE LOUVIN, BILLY WALKER, WEBB PIERCE and STONEWALL JACKSON, before becoming one of ERNEST TUBB’S TEXAS TROUBADOURS in 1974.
Owsley recorded with artists like WILLIE NELSON, CHARLIE DANIELS, RAY PRICE, JOHNNY BUSH and GEORGE JONES, and in 1977 was part of the “Coal Miner’s Daughter” movie soundtrack along with TUBB. He was also recruited to help actress SISSY SPACEK with her country accent for the role of LORETTA LYNN, for which she later won an ACADEMY AWARD.
OWSLEY currently lives in HENDERSONVILLE with his wife and still records steel guitar CDs.
