BEASLEY Sports WQAM-A/MIAMI host and former MIAMI DOLPHINS tight end JIM MANDICH told the MIAMI HERALD's BARRY JACKSON TUESDAY that he is leaving his afternoon show at WQAM to battle cancer and will not return.
"My talk-show days are done. It was a lot of fun," MANDICH, who also provided color commentary on DOLPHINS games for WQAM, said. The DOLPHINS are moving to CLEAR CHANNEL Sports WINZ-A and Classic Rock WBGG next season, and MANDICH's role on the broadcasts was up in the air due to the change, but he told JACKSON he "would love" to continue on the game broadcasts and do occasional work for WQAM as well, health permitting.
MANDICH was recently diagnosed with a bile duct tumor and is undergoing chemotherapy. He has been on a leave of absence from the station since JANUARY.
