Celebrity chef CHARLIE TROTTER drew a $10,000 pledge for CHICAGO PUBLIC RADIO noncommercial News-Talk WBEZ/CHICAGO by offering dinner for 10 at his home to the first listener to pledge that amount in the station's SPRING pledge drive, reports the CHICAGO TRIBUNE. Dr. FOTI CHRONOPOLOUS made the pledge, intending the dinner as a special celebration for his 10th wedding anniversary.
"We are big fans of NPR and WBEZ specifically," said CHRONOPOLOUS. "When I heard CHARLIE TROTTER's dinner was going on I got very excited. We love food, we love CHICAGO, we love to support WBEZ. The stars were aligned." Four other couples will split the pledge fee.
