April 2, 2010 at 8:14 AM (PT)
ARBITRON has apologized and accepted responsibility for a PPM encoding error during the beginning of MARCH that affected the ratings of BONNEVILLE News WTOP/WASHINGTON, D.C.
VP/News & Programming JIM FARLEY told ALL ACCESS, "My boss, JOEL OXLEY, and I had a very nice conference call with ARBITRON on MONDAY. They acknowledged a coding problem on their end and promised to fix and it in time for the full MARCH Book. We may not see it in time for the next weekly, but they told us we'd see it for the full month."
The issue existed between MARCH 5th-8th, and caused WTOP's 25-54 weekend ratings to fall from 10.4 in week four of FEBRUARY to a 0.7 during the first week of MARCH.
ARBITRON was contacted, but has not responded with a comment.
