A LACKAWANNA COUNTY judge ruled SATURDAY (4/10) that radio personality JOHN WEBSTER can continue to use his radio name at ENTERCOM Talk WILK-A-F-WKZN-A-WBZU-A (WILK NEWS RADIO)/SCRANTON-WILKES BARRE, where he is scheduled to hit the airwaves TODAY (4/12).
CITIZENSVOICE.COM reports that in a 13-page ruling, Judge TERRENCE R. NEALON denied a request for a preliminary injunction sought by WEBSTER's previous employer, THE SCRANTON TIMES LP, which owns Classic Rock WEZX/WPZX (ROCK 107)/WILKES BARRE-SCRANTON, and wanted to prevent JOHN GASPER from using the name "JOHN WEBSTER."
"In reviewing GASPER's contract with THE SCRANTON TIMES, NEALON wrote that THE SCRANTON TIMES 'merely acquired the non-exclusive right to use that name in advertising and publicizing the 'Daniels & Webster' show,' and that 'nothing expressly grants THE SCRANTON TIMES sole and exclusive ownership of the performer's on-air name, 'JOHN WEBSTER,'" writes the report.
