Jim Ryan Named CBS VP/AC Programming

It was first reported and bulletined by ALL ACCESS, and now it's official -- former CLEAR CHANNEL SVP/AC Programming and longtime PD at WLTW/NEW YORK will join CBS RADIO as its new VP/AC Programming.

In addition to his new corporate duties, RYAN will oversee day-to-day programming of both WWFS (FRESH 102.7)/NEW YORK and WCFS (FRESH 105.9)/CHICAGO.

Of RYAN's move to CBS RADIO, President DAN MASON told ALL ACCESS, "We are happy, and want this to be the home of the best programmers."

Said CBS RADIO SVP/Programming GREG STRASSELL, "Throughout his illustrious career, JIM has been a force to be reckoned with in the Adult Contemporary community, having programmed some of the top stations in the country. CBS RADIO has been aggressive in expanding its AC offerings and targeting the female demographic and we have no doubt JIM has the passion and know-how to help us further achieve our goal."

Of his appointment RYAN said, "CBS RADIO is known for being a destination where the industry’s strongest programmers grow and thrive. Current WWFS PD BRIAN THOMAS remains as CBS VP/Classic Hits and day-to-day PD at Classic Hits sister WCBS-F. RYAN fills a vacancy in CHICAGO created with the departure of BILL GAMBLE (NET NEWS 3/30). No word yet on who will take the other PD vacancy at Country WUSN (US 99)/CHICAGO.
