A COOK COUNTY judge ruled YESTERDAY (4/14) that CLEAR CHANNEL RADIO will remain a defendant in lawsuits stemming from the 2003 tragedy at CHICAGO's E2 nightclub, a decision attorneys hope will accelerate a resolution, reports THE CHICAGO TRIBUNE.
The attorney for the families of the victims, MELVIN BROOKS, told the TRIBUNE he was hopeful that the ruling would speed a potential trial or settlement. "Today is taking the first step toward achieving justice for all the E2 victims," he said. "The families needed to hear this." Company officials and CLEAR CHANNEL attorneys in CHICAGO declined comment to the paper.
The lawsuit alleges that a CLEAR CHANNEL on-air personality incited a stampede by instructing a security guard to use pepper spray that ended up panicking the crowd.
