WRKO Suspends Howie Carr
April 19, 2010 at 4:39 AM (PT)
Afternoon host HOWIE CARR has been suspended for a week by ENTERCOM Talk WRKO-A/BOSTON for criticizing the station, reports the BOSTON GLOBE.
VP/Market Manager JULIE KAHN told the GLOBE, "His behavior and his anger at the company is unacceptable because he denigrates the company, the medium, the station, the signal ... and he’s a highly, highly, highly paid employee." KAHN did not say what exact comments triggered the suspension.
CARR has been regularly critical of the station and its management, and in 2007 tried to jump to crosstown GREATER MEDIA Talk WTKK, only to lose a court battle over ENTERCOM's right to match the offer and keep him at WRKO.
