Robert T. Nash Exits WGOW-F/Chattanooga
April 19, 2010 at 4:39 AM (PT)
CITADEL Talk WGOW-F/CHATTANOOGA afternoon host ROBERT T. NASH has exited the station.
PD BILL LOCKHART told ABC affiliate WTVC (TV), "It had nothing at all to do with his on-air performance. It had nothing to do with whether he ruffled a feather or two. I told him last week, 'You are doing an exemplary job.' We have a lot of respect for his talent. It was essentially an internal issue with an employee. ROBERT T. knows exactly what the issue is, and should be crystal clear on the reason. The WGOW management team made the decision based on the evidence before us and I would say the overwhelming majority of managers in the U.S. would have made the conclusion that we could no longer employ ROBERT T. NASH. We will miss his talent. Unfortunately, we cannot allow unprofessional behavior within our building to go unanswered. We sincerely wish ROBERT T. the best."
NASH told THE CHATTANOOGAN news website, "I was called into a morning meeting in the small conference room with BILL LOCKHART, CHUCK WILKINS and Business Manager JIM FRANKLIN and advised that a formal report or reports -- which I have not seen -- of some sort had been made against me by a fellow employee or employees. I was sent out of the meeting for a period, then went back in with OM SCOTT CHASE and was told about corporate policy for dealing with these reports. I then went back out of the meeting for a brief moment with BILL LOCKHART to speak privately together. Then I went back into the small conference room with BILL LOCKHART to find only CHUCK WILKINS remaining and was told I was off the air effective immediately."
BOB MOORE will fill in for afternoons beginning MONDAY while the station searches for a permanent replacement.
