CRTC Changes Policy For Sales Of Licenses
April 19, 2010 at 6:19 PM (PT)
The CRTC has changed its criteria for sales of newly authorized or recently sold broadcast licenses.
The Commission will now apply the present policy banning sales in the first two years of operation only where the license has been granted under a competitive process, except for necessity due to a force majeure event. For licenses granted in a non-competitive process, the policy will not apply, nor will the ban be in effect for stations that have recently undergone a change in effective control.
