MEDIAGUIDE ADMONITOR reports that Q1 radio advertising in the Domestic Auto and Foreign Auto categories have increased over 1Q 2009 by 12.5% and 17.8% respectively.
"In spite of or because of auto recalls, ad spending for auto seems to be showing slow but steady growth," MEDIAGUIDE EVP/Advertising Sales JOAN GERBERDING said. "Although in both categories the actual ads run in MARCH 2010 compared with APRIL 2010 are down 25%, the first quarter combined is showing marked improvement."
We're seeing growth in a number of consumer categories which could certainly give the impression that things are starting to turn around a bit for the economy
More good news is emanating from other categories as well. In the category, Banks and Credit Unions ad detections in Q1 are up 54% from the same period last year; they're are also up 8% from MARCH to APRIL 2010. Home Improvement advertising is up 32% Q1 year-to-year and 63% from MARCH to APRIL 2010.
"We're seeing growth in a number of consumer categories which could certainly give the impression that things are starting to turn around a bit for the economy," GERBERDING concluded.
