CMA To Hold Volunteer Fair On Saturday

The COUNTRY MUSIC ASSOCIATION is looking for volunteers for this year’s CMA MUSIC FESTIVAL, which will be held JUNE 10th-13th in downtown NASHVILLE. This year the CMA will donate 50% of the proceeds of the festival to flood relief for victims in MIDDLE TENNESSEE, along with the other 50% of the proceeds going to benefit music in METRO NASHVILLE PUBLIC SCHOOLS.
CMA Chairman of the Board STEVE MOORE said: "Every hour that a person volunteers for the Festival represents savings that go directly to our schools and neighbors that need it most.
Anyone interested in volunteering can attend CMA's first ever Volunteer Fair from 9a-12p (CT) on SATURDAY (5/15) at the CMA office, which is located at 1 Music Circle S. in NASHVILLE. You may print out an application in advance at www.CMAfest.com, but it must be dropped off in person to apply. You must be at least 18-years-old, in good physical health and able to work a minimum of two days during the festival to volunteer. Many of the jobs require standing for long periods, extensive walking, some light lifting, and outside duties in the heat/possible rain. Jobs range from manning the information booths, to handing out product samples, to keeping the photo lines running smoothly. Some posts require a valid TENNESSEE driver license.
Volunteers are also needed for the CMA MUSIC FESTIVAL KICK-OFF PARADE on JUNE 9th. CMA will provide volunteers parking, event T-shirts, catering during working hours, and two tickets to one of the nightly shows at LP FIELD.
MOORE said: "The pay is awful. But the payoff for NASHVILLE is tremendous. Based on last year's figures, we could donate more than $2 million from this year's event to music education and flood relief. But, we need volunteer support to help make that happen."
To demonstrate their appreciation, NASHVILLE ALLIANCE administrators and Metro band directors and music teachers are among those stepping up to volunteer to drive staff shuttles and the "press express," which moves journalists from place to place during the event.
