CAPITOL BROADCASTING CO. Sports WCMC-F (99.9 THE FAN)/RALEIGH-DURHAM will air CAROLINA PANTHERS football this season. While the station and the CHARLOTTE-based NFL franchise have had a working relationship since the station's inception in 2007, this season marks the first in which WCMC will air all games in their entirety. The games previously aired in the TRIANGLE market on sister Sports WRBZ (AM 850 THE BUZZ, now Oldies WKIX-A).
"We are proud to be bringing the PANTHERS to our listeners on 99.9 FM THE FAM -- ESPN RADIO," said CAPITOL Sports stations OM DAVE SHORE. "Since we went on the air in the fall of 2007 we have had an outstanding relationship with the PANTHERS and I think our listeners have come to expect they get the full package of interviews, analysis, opinions and entertainment in our coverage. Adding the play-by-play and all the other elements in this partnership is a great opportunity for us, and we hope to further enhance the experience football fans get in hearing the PANTHERS in action."
"We are extremely pleased to be forging this broadcasting partnership with ESPN RADIO 99.9 THE FAN," said PANTHERS Affiliate Manager ERIC FIDDLEMAN. "Their identity as an industry leader in sports radio should provide an outstanding outlet for our TRIANGLE area fan base, not just on game day but throughout the week. The synergies for our fans are very significant and the opportunity for the PANTHERS to affiliate with a company the caliber of CAPITOL BROADCASTING is icing on the cake. The TRIANGLE is a very important market to our Organization and we feel this partnership will greatly enhance our opportunity to serve our fans."
