Report: American Radio Works Faces Staff Cuts

AMERICAN PUBLIC MEDIA's AMERICAN RADIO WORKS documentary unit is facing staff cuts, reports MINNPOST's DAVID BRAUER, who has posted a memo to ARW staff from APM SVP/National Content Division JUDY MCALPINE stating that "we continue to be in a tight fiscal environment, and as a result we are aligning national documentary activity with two priority editorial areas at APM -- Education and Sustainability.... As a result of this realignment, ARW will no longer be a stand-alone editorial team. Work will now be integrated into these two editorial projects. This will mean a change in some positions and reduction of others but we are doing everything we can to find other opportunities within our company for affected staff."
ARW presently has a staff of 10 full-time employees and contributors, and is likely to be cut back to Executive Editor and Host STEPHEN SMITH, one other full-timer and some part-time staffers.
