Future Uncertain For WTNK As They Recover From The Flood

G&L AIRCASTERS Country WTNK-A-F/HARTSVILLE, TN is struggling to get back on its feet after receiving substantial damage to its building during the recent flooding in Middle TENNESSEE. The station is still on the air, but according to a report from WSMV-TV/NASHVILLE, it’s uncertain how long they can keep it going.
VP/CFO LISA FRANK tells ALL ACCESS that over two feet of water filled the building and destroyed their entire office and a couple of computers, as well as the power cord for their EAS printer, which they have not been able to replace yet. The transmitter was not damaged, and they are still on the air on the AM and FM bands, although the FM signal has significantly weakened.
Thanks to several volunteers who have stopped by to offer their services at no cost, the station is in the middle of having new drywall and flooring installed at night, after hours. For now, they are carrying two live shifts, 5-9a and 9a-noon (CT), and the rest of the programming is automated.
