Former FCC Chief Economist Larry F. Darby Dies At 69

LARRY F. DARBY, who served as the FCC's Chief Economist and as Chief of the Common Carrier Bureau, died MAY 18th in WASHINGTON of a heart attack at 69, acording to the WASHINGTON POST.
Dr. DARBY was a professor at TEMPLE UNIVERSITY before becoming a senior economist with the WHITE HOUSE Office of Telecommunications Policy, then served with the FCC until 1979, advocating deregulation of the telecommunications market. He later joined SHEARSON LEHMAN BROTHERS as VP/Corporate Finance and formed his own consultancy, also serving as Senior Fellow and board member of the AMERICAN CONSUMER INSTITUTE.
