The CINCINNATI ENQUIRER's JOHN KIESEWETTER is reporting that talk in the market has CLEAR CHANNEL Talk WLW-A/CINCINNATI talk stars BILL CUNNINGHAM and MIKE MCCONNELL both exiting this SUMMER to join TRIBUNE Talk WGN-A/CHICAGO. CUNNINGHAM is taping pilots for a TV talk show for TRIBUNE to be shot at the studios of WGN-TV/CHICAGO, and told KIESEWETTER, "Don’t make me talk about this. All I can say is that I work for WLW-AM for now. I can’t talk about it. I’m going to get into trouble. When I can talk about it, I'll call you." MCCONNELL is on vacation this week.
TRIBUNE CEO RANDY MICHAELS, who headed CLEAR CHANNEL and worked with both hosts in the 1990s, told KIESEWETTER, "All I can say is that I can't say anything." SEAN COMPTON, currently President of Programming at TRIBUNE and formerly head of programming at CLEAR CHANNEL, declined comment on the possible defections.
In addition to the CUNNINGHAM TV show, TRIBUNE is taping pilots for a possible BUBBA THE LOVE SPONGE TV show this month.
