Canadian Radio Revenue Fell 5.2% In 2009

CANADA's private commercial radio stations saw revenue fall 5.2% in 2009, according to the CRTC's yearly revenue report.
The agency said that AM and FM stations generated C$1.5 billion in revenue, with profit before interest and taxes of C$271.6 million, an 18% profit margin (down from 2008's C$334.9 million and 21% margin).
English-language FM station revenues fell 5.8% to just under C$1 billion, while French-language FMs were up slightly to C$227 million and Ethnic FM stations dropped 3.3% to C$16 million.
AM revenues fell 7.4% to C$300 million, with Anglo stations off almost 8% to C$272 million and French stations off 8.5% to C$11.6 million. Ethnic AMs were slightly higher at $22 million.
