ARISTA RECORDS/NASHVILLE artist CARRIE UNDERWOOD was the only multiple winner at last night's (6/9) CMT MUSIC AWARDS, held at the BRIDGESTONE ARENA in NASHVILLE.
UNDERWOOD, the former "AMERICAN IDOL" champ, won WEDNESDAY's biggest prize, "Video Of The Year for "Cowboy Casanova," and CMT "Performance Of The Year" for "Temporary Home." Both awards are chosen by the fans.
"They were there before I had anything, an album, a record deal, a tour or anything like that," CARRIE said after the show. "They built me from the ground up."
Other big winners included MIRANDA LAMBERT's "Female Video Of The Year," award for "White Liar." KEITH URBAN's "'Til Summer Comes Around" won the ''Male Video" award. The "Group of the Year" video went to LADY ANTEBELLUM for "Need You Now." The "Duo Video Of The Year" was claimed by BROOKS & DUNN for "Indian Summer," and the "Collaborative Video Of The Year" was from BLAKE SHELTON and TRACE ADKINS for "Hillbilly Bone."
Host KID ROCK kicked off the evening with a performance of his hit “Cowboy,” joined by many of his famous friends like TRACE ADKINS, ZAC BROWN, RANDY HOUSER, JAMEY JOHNSON, MARTINA McBRIDE, KELLIE PICKLER and HANK WILLIAMS JR.
Other highlights included MIRANDA LAMBERT, who performed her #1 hit, “White Liar,” and TIM McGRAW sang “Southern Voice.” BRAD PAISLEY took the stage to sing “American Saturday Night” as big red balloons bounced through the crowd. JAMEY JOHNSON debuted a brand new song, “Macon,” from his forthcoming album, “The Guitar Song.” LITTLE BIG TOWN, KATE & KACEY COPPOLA and LIT guitarist JEREMY POPOFF joined JAMEY on stage for the performance.
