Actor, comedian, author and syndicated morning host STEVE HARVEY hosted 100 boys over FATHER'S DAY weekend at his ranch in LITTLE ELM, TX, near DALLAS. About 100 teenage boys without fathers at home spent the weekend with HARVEY and a host of others who want to encourage them to reach their potential. The boys toured AMERICAN AIRLINES maintenance base SATURDAY. There, volunteers including pilots and aircraft mechanics, talked about opportunities in aviation.
HARVEY created THE STEVE HARVEY MENTORING WEEKEND to support young boys who are being raised in homes without fathers. Participants were selected from more than 5,000 applicants. To be considered, boys had to be between 13 and 18, in grades up to and including 11th, be raised in a single parent home by a female and write an essay explaining why they should be selected.
HARVEY told the boys whether they were interested in aviation, the armed services or some other vocation, they should get their thinking caps on. “Something might click in you today,” HARVEY said. “This might be your turning point.”
