A newly released research paper from EDISON RESEARCH and ARBITRON shows, among other things, that radio listening among social networkers is more than that of non-FACEBOOK and MYSPACE users. It also noted social networkers watch less television than the typical American.
The report, called "The Social Habit," found PANDORA is "already the dominant online audio brand with frequent social networkers. These consumers’ propensity for posting status updates and other content, combined with PANDORA’s recent moves to integrate with FACEBOOK, will likely position PANDORA as the dominant music discovery brand online." AOL RADIO, LAST.FM, YAHOO and SLACKER rounded out the top 5.
In fact, frequent social networkers were found to have listened to online radio in a much higher percentage than typical AMERICANS, with 52% of the total population saying they've heard online radio, versus 76% of social networkers.
It was also found that "frequent social networkers embrace digital music purchases," -- good news for the music industry.
