ALPHA BROADCASTING Triple A KINK/PORTLAND, OR, will raise funds for the OREGON FOOD BANK TOMORROW (6/29) from 7a-7p with an online auction offering up items such as autographed LYLE LOVETT and JOHN HIATT guitars; a signed/framed NEIL YOUNG poster; signed JAMIE CULLUM toy piano; a VIP package to this year’s SAFEWAY WATERFRONT BLUES FESTIVAL; a year’s worth of VIP passes into the KINK LIVE PERFORMANCE LOUNGE; and a flyaway to see KEANE in the BAY AREA, along with an autographed guitar. Many other one-of-a-kind items will be up for grabs too.
The auction ties in with this weekend’s 23rd ANNUAL SAFEWAY WATERFRONT BLUES FESTIVAL which kicks off on FRIDAY (7/2), along the shores of the WILLAMETTE RIVER in WATERFRONT PARK. A suggested daily donation of $10 plus two cans of food will help stock the shelves of the Oregon Food Bank, which has seen fewer donations recently as a result of the economic downturn.
The lineup this year includes TAJ MAHAL, JOHN MAYALL, LITTLE FEAT, BOOKER T, CURTIS SALGADO, COMMANDER CODY and BOBBY RUSH among the 125 performances on four stages throughout the long JULY 4th holiday weekend. The SAFEWAY WATERFRONT BLUES FESTIVAL is the largest blues festival west of the MISSISSIPPI. KINK will broadcast live from the festival throughout the holiday weekend
"We are very excited about the auction items and being able to support our friends at the OREGON FOOD BANK," commented KINK PD DENNIS CONSTANTINE. "It’s the perfect way to kick off another great year at the Blues Festival but also to highlight the great need by so many families right here in OREGON."
