SAGA/MILWAUKEE RADIO GROUP Pres./GM TOM JOERRES will retire at the end of AUGUST, reports THE MILWAUKEE JOURNAL-SENTINAL. JOERRES is a 33 year vet of MILWAUKEE radio.
Said JOERRES, "After almost 3 decades overseeing SAGA’s MILWAUKEE RADIO GROUP, I felt it was time for me to sample a life that wasn’t weighted with acronyms like PPM, TSL ,CPP, CPM, GRP, OMT, FCC, AQH , WBA, etc. I believe the acronyms wore me down! Seriously though, it’s been a great run -- and made so because I was fortunate to have not only some of the very best broadcasters but some of the very best people come into our fold. We were able to not only create great radio with great people at every department, but more importantly, we were able to sustain our front running position even in the face of any adversity that would occasionally be in our path. I look for a life after that will include a more friendly cadence that allows for a lot of elective choices of interest -- which doesn’t preclude staying somewhat connected to an industry that I still enjoy."
JOERRES started as an account executive at WOKY-A in 1977, and at WTMJ-A in 1979.
