As ALL ACCESS told you THURSDAY (NET NEWS 7/15), our very own MARY LYNNE O'NEAL was one of the thousands of people that showed up to audition for Season 10 of AMERICAN IDOL in NASHVILLE over the weekend. We are sad to report that MARY LYNNE did not make it past the first round of auditions, but she tells ALL ACCESS that she felt like she did her best and had no regrets.
ML said: “I got to the BRIDGESTONE ARENA on 5a (CT) early SATURDAY morning (7/17) and it was a lot of waiting, taping and re-taping segments for the show (reciting lines like “Welcome to NASHVILLE” and “it all starts here”) and waiting some more. We only had to wait three hours to get inside, and once inside we had more taping and re-taping of crowd shots. Around 2:30p (CT) my group was called down to Table 7 to audition in front of two A.I. representatives, which were two younger women I did not recognize. I sang “Keep On Lovin’ You” by STEEL MAGNOLIA and I felt really good about my performance.”
She continued: “Once the rest of our group sang they called us over to the table to find out our results. The women claimed that our voices were not strong enough for the competition. I thought that was a load of B.S. because I sang my heart out, but I wasn’t upset that I didn’t make it. A TON of great singers did not make the cut, and the way they look for people to appear on the show is very particular.
"But I had a fun experience, and it was cool to think that I had accomplished something everyone had been encouraging me to do for a long time. The support from my family and friends has been amazing! I’ll always have them to lean on, and that is the best feeling in the world.”
