THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH remembers FUN WITH RADIO Alternative WWCD (CD101)/COLUMBUS, OH PD/afternooner ANDY DAVIS (a.k.a. ANDYMAN) and how much he cared about music and his annual charity support, following ANDYMAN's sudden death SUNDAY (7/18) while swimming in LONG LAKE in NORTHERN MICHIGAN (NET NEWS 7/19).
According to the paper, his brother-in-law, a COLUMBUS paramedic, administered CPR for 20 minutes, but DAVIS was unresponsive. "My understanding was that he loved swimming and was a halfway decent swimmer," MASON COUNTY UNDERSHERIFF TOM TRENNER said. "Speculation is that he had a medical problem such as a heart attack."
YESTERDAY (7/19), CD101 paid tribute on-air to ANDYMAN throughout the day and fans and friends gathered for a memorial outside the station.
A public celebration remembering ANDYMAN will be held this THURSDAY, JULY 22nd at THE LC PAVILION from 7-11p.
