OHANA BROADCAST COMPANY Hawaiian KMKK (HAWAII'S NA MELE 102.3)/KAUNAKAKAI, MOLOKAI, HI will no longer air MOLOKAI news or sell ads to MOLOKAI businesses, reports the MOLOKAI NEWS website. The site quotes OHANA RVP TRIP REEB as saying, “At this point, we are actually embarking on a different sales strategy and are not going to be running local ads on the station in the near future.”
The station became part of OHANA, the group created by JASON WOLFF's FRONTIER RADIO INVESTORS, after the split between WOLFF and JOHN DETZ broke up the VISIONARY RELATED ENTERTAINMENT stations into two separate clusters. KMKK transmits from MOLOKAI (population of 7.404 in the 2000 Census), and the site suggests that the station might target the larger OAHU market for advertising. KMKK's signal reaches the eastern/Windward areas of OAHU.
