TRIBUNE BROADCASTING makes it official and announces a pickup for "THE BILL CUNNINGHAM SHOW," the TV show hosted by the CLEAR CHANNEL Talk WLW-A/CINCINNATI and PREMIERE RADIO NETWORKS host. WILLIE's daytime TV show, produced in CHICAGO, will air on TRIBUNE's owned-and-operated TV stations (WPIX (TV)/NEW YORK, KTLA (TV)/LOS ANGELES, WGN-TV/CHICAGO, WPHL-TV (MY PHL 17)/PHILADELPHIA, and several others) on weekdays starting in SEPTEMBER, with negotiations continuing with distribution partners for national syndication. CUNNINGHAM will continue his radio shows while hosting the new TV show.
"I am proud to be an integral part of TRIBUNE's new original daytime programming initiative," said CUNNINGHAM. "CHICAGO soon will be vacant of all existing daytime talk. I am humbled and honored to follow in the footsteps of the great broadcasters that filled the hallways and studios at WGN-TV's Bradley Place in CHICAGO, once home to 'THE PHIL DONAHUE SHOW.'"
"BILL's show represents a great opportunity for TRIBUNE to get back into original programming production," said TRIBUNE BROADCASTING President of Programming SEAN COMPTON. "After a successful test launch we felt 'THE BILL CUNNINGHAM SHOW' was a strong complement to the existing programs on our television stations."
