Axel Lowe Moving To PD/Mornings At 99X In Atlanta

CUMULUS Alternative WWWQ-HD2 (99X NOW AT 97.9 FM)/ATLANTA is bringing back AXEL LOWE to fill its PD vacancy replacing B.J. KINARD, who relocated to MYRTLE BEACH, SC (NET NEWS 8/3). AXEL will also host a music-intensive morning show on 99X, effective AUGUST 16th. He spent 15 years at 99X before shifting to afternoons on sister Rock WNNX (ROCK 100.5).

"We’re so happy to announce the return of AXEL to the 99X airwaves," said GM GARY LEWIS. "His passion for the format and rapport with the listeners will click immediately." 

AXEL told ALL ACCESS, "I'm crazy excited about returning to 99X! There's a ton of great new Alt music out there, the format is really healthy right now, and I get to host my own morning show! Yea to waking up at 4 am!"

The new weekday lineup at 99X is:
6-10a -- AXEL
10-3p -- SHAWN
3-7p -- LEWIS
7-mid -- TOMMY

Matt Jones Upped To PM Drive At Rock 100.5

Long-time ATLANTA air personality MATT JONES will take over AXEL’s afternoon shift at ROCK 100.5. JONES was most recently doing overnights on ROCK 100.5.  He will also continue to host the "ORGANIC X" SUNDAY morning program on 99X.
