Condolences to family and friends of MAGNUM BROADCASTING/PORTAGE-WISCONSIN DELLS, WI News Director PETE HOLLIDAY, who MAGNUM Country WDLS-A reports died at age 68, months away from his 50th anniversary in broadcasting.
HOLLIDAY, whose real name was PETER DEAN LAKIN, was a television news anchor in MADISON in the 1960s, and served as News Director of MAGNUM's Country WDLS-A, Hot AC WNNO (MIX 106.9), and Country WBKY (BUCKY COUNTRY 95.9)/PORTAGE-WISCONSIN DELLS for the last 12 years. The non-smoker and non-drinker lost a lung several years ago; the station says that HOLLIDAY "wrote shorter sentences and re-trained himself to maintain his strong, smooth speaking voice" until his passing.
