HOT MIX RADIO NETWORKS, which just signed with BLACK CARD RADIO, has reached a milestone in the radio industry. With its flagship show HOT MIX MAINSTREAM now in its 25th year, it is the longest running syndicated mix show in radio history.
HOT MIX has been on the airwaves since 1985. DARIN TAOKA (aka DJ BLADE) took over the operation in 1997 and still serves as Dir./Programming for both the Mainstream and Crossover formats. The key to endurance, according to TAOKA, is consistency. He said, "Consistent quality, programming and performance are the keys to our success. HOT MIX is programmed with ratings in mind, mixing the hottest hits and proven tracks into one HOT MIX!"
HOT MIX Airs on over 50 affiliates across the nation, including CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40 WHTZ (Z 100)/NEW YORK. Z 100 has been on board for 8 years, and PD SHARON DASTUR said, "HOT MIX does a great job at balancing the hits and mixing the songs in a way that it doesn’t lose the songs' original core."
In addition, HOT MIX has officially signed with BLACK CARD RADIO, where Affiliate Relations Manager MASA PATTERSON commented, "It is amazing to see the national footprint that HOT MIX has. The response we have received has been exceptional."
BLACK CARD RADIO has also arranged to have long time Promotion executive BOB CATANIA serve as the label liaison for HOT MIX. CATANIA's career in promotion includes Head of Promotion duties at ISLAND, CHARISMA, GEFFEN, GIANT, and CURB RECORDS. He currently runs RIGHT WAY MUSIC GROUP, and added, "I am thrilled to be working with the team at BLACK CARD RADIO to get the word out to the labels about the great opportunities they are providing to help develop and expose music in today’s very competitive world."
