August 13, 2010 at 10:30 AM (PT)
The day after releasing the figures for fourth quarter 2009, the FCC has released complaint and inquiry figures for first quarter 2010. Total inquiries increased 7% from third quarter to 26.240, but radio and television inquiries, mostly on programming issues, lost 6% to 5,135. Complaints jumped 2305 overall to 177,589, driven by a 1,259% increase in radio and television complaints to 132,416.
By far the lion's share of complaints involved broadcast indecency, and almost all of those were in JANUARY, when the Commission received 127,655 out of 130,651 indecency complaints.
