WTOP To Host Maryland Gubernatorial Debate (Probably)

Former MARYLAND Governor (and HEARST Talk WBAL-A/BALTIMORE weekend host on hiatus) BOB EHRLICH and incumbent Governor MARTIN O'MALLEY have apparently committed to an OCTOBER 29th debate on BONNEVILLE News WTOP/WASHINGTON, report the BALTIMORE SUN and DCRTV.COM. EHRLICH is challenging O'MALLEY in this NOVEMBER's gubernatorial election.

The candidates have been negotiating a debate schedule, and the WTOP debate appears to be the first to be agreed upon. A remaining issue involves whether WTOP political commentator and host MARK PLOTKIN, on whose show the debate is scheduled, will host the event; EHRLICH's debate proposal lists "host to be determined." HEARST NBC affiliate WBAL-TV/BALTIMORE and MARYLAND PUBLIC TELEVISION have also offered to host a debate.
