Campaign commercials by LOUISIANA Republican Senate primary candidate CHET TRAYLOR, which raise the issue of Sen. DAVID VITTER (R-LA)'s alleged battery of a woman and his former aide's arrest on domestic assault charges, drew a response from RITTER's attorneys, who sent a letter to radio stations threatening to sue them if they air the commercial. The ADVOCATE of BATON ROUGE reports that VITTER's attorneys called the ad "false, misleading and defamatory."
TRAYLOR's campaign strategist ROY FLETCHER told the paper that the claims in the commercial are true and VITTER is "trying to suppress free speech."
