The EDMONTON OILERS have selected minor league hockey ANCHORAGE ACES radio broadcaster JACK MICHAELS as the NHL club's new play-by-play voice, filling the slot left vacant by the retirement of longtime OILERS broadcaster ROD PHILLIPS. MICHAELS has called ACES games since 2002; he will work alongside incumbent color commentator BOB STAUFFER.
"We welcome JACK to Oil Country," said OILERS Pres./CEO PATRICK LAFORGE. "We underwent a comprehensive search to find the right voice with the right credentials and chemistry to launch this new era of OILERS Radio."
"An NHL play-by-play job has been a dream and believe me this is now a dream come true," said MICHAELS. "I know fans have keenly listened to OILERS broadcasts for three decades of fabulous moments, and frankly I can't wait to get started."
The OILERS are heard on CORUS Talk CHED-A/EDMONTON and the OILERS RADIO NETWORK.
