More Room For Independent Producers On BBC Radio

The BBC will open an additional 10% of its radio broadcasting hours to independent producers, added to the present 10% quota, reports THE GUARDIAN's JOHN PLUNKETT. The addition comes after a review of the BBC's commissioning process by the BBC TRUST.
The increase makes the radio commissioning level more closely aligned with that of BBC television, which operates under the "window of creative competition" model (WoCC).
