COUNTRY MUSIC HALL of FAMER KITTY WELLS turns 91 years old TODAY (AUGUST 30th), and a celebration was held on SUNDAY (8/29), at the ERNEST TUBB RECORD SHOP in NASHVILLE, along with Country artists such as CHARLIE LOUVIN and her husband of 72 years, JOHNNIE WRIGHT.
WELLS, who was born MURIEL DEASON, took the name KITTY WELLS after the folk song, “I’m A-Goin’ To Marry Kitty Wells.” She is also one of the rare Country artists to actually have been born in NASHVILLE. WELLS became a household name with her 1952 hit, “It Wasn’t God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels”
