Fake Roethlisberger Suspension Tweet By WJFK's Wise Raises Eyebrows

CBS RADIO Sports WJFK (106.7 THE FAN)/WASHINGTON host and WASHINGTON POST columnist MIKE WISE drew attention with his tweet TODAY (8/30) on his personal TWITTER account that reported the NFL would suspend BEN ROETHLISBERGER five games for his off-field behavior, then told his WJFK listeners that the post was phony and intended to prove that people will believe, and reporters will print, anything.
In response, POST Sports Editor MATT VITA sent an e-mail memo to his staff reminding them of the newspaper's guidelines for use of social media, reports DEADSPIN. The memo did not mention WISE by name but reminded the staff, "When you use social media, remember that you are representing THE WASHINGTON POST, even if you are using your own account. This is not to be treated lightly. The same standards that we apply to ourselves in the newspaper, on the website, on mobile or in any other media platform apply to the world of social media. Most fundamentally, we need to be accurate. We need to be transparent. And we need to be fair."
