Radio Station Programmer Faces Firearms Charges In B.C. Shooting

RADIO INDIA Managing Dir. MANINDER SINGH GILL, whose company programs MULTICULTURAL BROADCASTING brokered Indian KVRI-A (RADIO INDIA)/BLAINE, WA-VANCOUVER, BC, faces five firearms charges in the shooting of a man outside a wedding ceremony in SURREY, BC SATURDAY (NET NEWS 8/30), reports the VANCOUVER SUN.
GILL allegedly wounded contractor HARJIT SINGH ATWAL in the thigh during a confrontation in the parking lot of the GURU NANAK Sikh temple in SURREY. ATWAL, with two others, sued GILL for defamation in MAY in a dispute involving an APRIL 15th report on the station about alleged threats made by JASPER ATWAL against a local politician.
GILL was charged with two counts of discharging a firearm with intent and one count each of pointing a firearm, possession of a firearm for a dangerous purpose, and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
